About.
INSPIRED BY THE BEAUTY OF THE MIND.
Weather and art, it blows you away!
As we grow we ask ourselves not only where we are going, but where we came from. I grew up in East Germany and discovered I had no desire to conform to mass opinions or accept limits to my personal expression and world view. I saw the wall come down in Berlin and was fascinated with the idea of freedom- not just physical freedom but also freedom of thought and expression. I seized the opportunity to settle in Canada. My new found freedom to choose my own passions led me to today, creating abstract spiritual landscapes finger painted in oil.
There are moments in life when we feel a threshold has been reached; when a stage in life has finished and a new chapter can open. I reached this threshold in the summer of 2018. Steps in Art is the result of my rediscovered passion for painting. I have experimented with different brushes and techniques; however, I felt disconnected from the canvas. I needed the distance between me and the canvas to be as short as possible. Thus my hands became the tool to bridge the distance and mirror my thoughts in oils and canvas.
Steps in Art is the beginning of my journey and I invite you to travel with me.

QUOTES FROM THE ARTIST.
I began to paint as a divergence from my work as a owner of Ginkgo Floral Design in the St.Lawrence neighborhood in Toronto. In my floral business I work with colours, textures and forms daily and take my cues from the natural world. Thus, it was understandable for me to extrapolate this interest into paintings, reflecting the world as I feel it. I examine the lines that lead me out of the natural environment and into a more spiritual, cerebral place. I follow lines from one realm to another, finding inspiration as I journey into other spaces.

WHERE THE LINES BEGIN, INSPIRATION AND WORK STARTS.
The valleys of doubt take courage and patience away. To be successful, it takes patience and forgiveness. Some of the best work comes out of lessons of past mistakes.
Painting is self-discovery. Art enables us to find ourselves and flow. The world always seems brighter, after you’ve just created something.
